College Coach has always maintained a
commitment to community service and to partnering with our corporate clients in
their community outreach efforts. If you follow College Coach's
Insider blog, you may have read
about
Alex
Bickford and Marj Southworth's latest trip to the
Light House maternity home for young
mothers in Kansas City or
the
work of Dawn Marvino, Mary Sue Youn, Lisa Albro, and Sally Ganga with
Big Brothers Big Sisters at
American Express
in New York City.
College Coach has recently formalized our
commitment to community outreach, however, with the formation of the Community
Support Committee.
Helping Individuals Realize Educational Aspirations
The mission of the Community Support Committee is to deliver superior college
counseling programs to non-profit organizations and community groups whose
constituents could not otherwise afford these services. Through the donated
time of
College
Coach educators, the Community Support Committee is able to offer
programming in the areas of college admissions and college finance.
Programming can consist of group presentations and/or individual counseling, and we
can customize our services to meet your organization's needs. All in-kind
donations of college counseling to deserving community groups further College
Coach's goal of helping individuals realize their educational aspirations.
IBM and the White Plains Football Association
The Community Support Committee undertook its
first
official program in July, partnering with
IBM and the White
Plains Football Association to provide expertise and guidance on the college
admissions process to student-athletes and their parents in White Plains, NY.
Many of these athletes will be the first members of their families to attend
college, and the assistance provided by College Coach's
Sally
Ganga was invaluable to these families as they navigate a confusing and
sometimes intimidating college application process for the first time.
An Open Call for New Community Partnerships
The College Coach Community Support Committee, consisting of
Beth
Feinberg Keenan,
Marj
Southworth,
Kyra
Tyler, Kerri Haseman, and Stephanie Porter, is currently looking for new
community groups to partner with. Does your company currently work with a
worthy non-profit organization whose members could benefit from a program on college
admissions or financial aid? Do you or your employees volunteer for a group
that could use college counseling assistance? If so, please contact College
Coach at
justin.fleener@brightthorizons.com.
College Coach exists to turn college dreams into reality, and the Community Support
Committee is here to help!
